展覽論述：

李建中（1923-2017）山東煙台人，1969、1971年兩度受邀參加巴西聖保羅國際雙年展，1978年旅居美國，創作與展覽不輟。

以木雕、彩墨、油彩、壓克力等多元媒材創作，融合工業設計與印染技術，藝術家發展出打洞、凹凸皴、沙敷、噴霧、螢光繪畫、蠟染等獨特技法，在平面中營造立體與質感。他以幾何構成展現形上思維，作品冷峻抽象卻蘊含老莊哲理的遊藝精神，於技與藝之間流動，保持對生命與世界的疏離。

Exhibition Statement:

LI, CHUIEN-CHUNG (1923–2017), born in Yantai, Shandong, was twice invited to participate in the São Paulo International Biennial in 1969 and 1971. In 1978, he moved to the United States, where he continued to create and exhibit actively.

Working across diverse media such as wood sculpture, ink and color, oil, and acrylic, LI merged techniques from industrial design and textile printing to develop his own distinctive methods—piercing, relief texture, sand application, spray, fluorescent painting, and wax-dyeing. These approaches create a unique sense of depth and materiality within the pictorial plane.

Through geometric compositions, LI expresses a metaphysical mode of thought; his cool abstraction is infused with the Daoist spirit of playfulness derived from Laozi and Zhuangzi. Moving fluidly between craftsmanship and artistry, his work maintains a deliberate detachment from life and the world.
